Thule 954 Ridgeline Hitch Bike Rack Reviews
The Thule 954 Ridgeline is part of Thule Racks new series in the hitch bike rack category. This carrier is very similar to the 964 Revolver, except that it doesn't swing away from the vehicle. Instead it tilts-down. This is an adequate feature when the bikes are not loaded onto the hitch rack. However, it is not easy to lower the rack to access the back of a car when the bikes are on the carrier. We were able to get into the back of a 2006 Honda Odyssey with two people holding the rack in the lowered position (with bikes on) and the third to actually access the rear of the vehicle. The Thule 954 Ridgeline shines however in all other categories including stability, security and ease of connecting the bike rack to the hitch receiver. This brings us to the neatest feature of the Ridgeline, that it can connect to both 2 inch and 1.25 inch hitches without any extra adapters or accessories. We popped it off the Honda Odyssey 2 inch hitch and made a nice solid connection to a 1 1/4" receiver on a 2007 Mazda 3 sedan. It'll be hard to find a more fully-featured and reliable hitch mount bike carrier for the price.
