Thule 964 Revolver 4 Hitch Bike Rack Reviews
Thule Racks has launched the 964 Thule Revolver with several upgrades to replace the discontinued 998XT Trailblazer swing away bike hitch rack. We really like how Thule Racks has managed to only slightly raise the price on this rack compared to the 998XT, even though the Revolver has many new features and upgrades that make it superior. For starters the swing away mechanism really is easier to open/close and it swings away from the vehicle even further so there is no compromise in accessing the back of the car. We tested on a Chevy Trailblazer, Ford 250 pickup truck and a Volvo XC70 and it worked flawlessly each time. It's a close call between the new Hitch Switch and the integrated locking cable for our favorite new feature though. The HitchSwitch is a lever that instantly folds down the entire bike arm section so the rack doesn't stick out when pulling into a garage or parking. The cable lock lives inside the bike rack when not in use, but nicely locks all the bike to the 964 Revolver when they're loaded up. The included Thule STL2 lock secures the hitch bike rack to the 2 inch hitch receiver. In short, the Thule 964 Revolver includes a host of new upgrades without sending the price tag into another dimension. Love that lifetime warranty too!
