Thule 630 Ranger 90 Roof Bag Reviews
The Thule 630 Ranger 90 roof bag is an excellent hybrid between a hard-shell cargo box and a soft roof bag. It performs double duty with great protection of the cargo bag contents while also offering much easier convenience than a hard roof box when you remove it from the roof rack and store it. One of the biggest hassles of a roof box is that it takes up so much room when you need to remove it from your car rack and store it for any reason. Unless you have a big garage you are going to have a tough time storing a cargo box. The 630 Ranger 90 bag when removed rolls up really nicely and fits in it's storage bag. The firm (yet flexible enough to roll up) bottom of the bag provides the finest base to protect all the luggage gear. And it allows the Ranger roof bag to hold its shape even and won't flap around if it's not completely full, a minor inconvenience with other roof bag models. The built in roof bag lock is an excellent security feature too. We tested the Thule QuickSnap mounting hardware on all styles of Thule bars & the Yakima round bars and it performed flawlessly. It really shined when connecting to factory roof racks too. The 12 cubic foot cargo capacity leaves a little less room that other bags in its category (Yakima GetOut Pro & Thule 866 Escape II) but then again most trips / vacations won't require more than 12 cubic feet of space anyway so it's not much to worry about.
