Yakima GetOut Pro Roof Bag Reviews
Yakima Racks enters the luggage roof bag market with the 07166 GetOut Pro bag (the 07167 GetOut cargo bag is also available, but it lacks the all-weather construction and is suggested for fair-weather day excursions only). The Get Out Pro packs a host of features including weather resistant materials and reinforced sealed seams to prevent water from leaking in. Our tests revealed it does an excellent job of sealing out water in the most foul weather conditions. You do have to be sure the zippers are all the way closed or water can enter. We found that adding a padlock to the zippers (they line up so you can put a padlock on them) ensures that you have fully zipped up the bag and the zippers won't come undone at all if the bag is stuffed with gear that it's almost literally bursting at the seams. We mounted the GetOut Pro to cars with either Yakima or Thule base racks (Audi a4, Saturn Ion, VW Jetta) and cars with factory racks, some with crossbars and others with just siderails (Kia Sorento, Suzuki XL-7, Toyota RAV-4, Subaru Legacy Outback) and the Get Out Pro strapped on marvellously every time, and the instructions do a great job of outlining the install process. The outer material is about the coolest, smooth and sleek finish we've ever seen or felt. And it really does wipe clean any insect splats that Yakima Racks claims it does. Our only negative remark is it's a little more boxy and less aerodynamic looking than Thule Racks' 866 Escape II roof bag. However, it does hold it's shape better when it's less than completely full, and we doubt it really makes any difference in more efficient gas mileage.
