Yakima GetOut Roof Bag Reviews
Attempting to meet the low end price market for car roof mount luggage bags, Yakima Racks has released the 8007167 Yakima GetOut. As with Thule Racks line of cartop soft bags there are significant trade-offs between features and price. Like the Thule 846 Quest compared to the Thule 866 Escape II, the Yakima GetOut sacrifies full weather protection that is found on the Get Out Pro model. The GetOut also lacks the very cool exterior finish that gives the Get Out Pro both a sleek, modern look and excellent surface for washing off bug splats and grime. However, our tests did show the GetOut does offer protection from a reasonable amount of rain or snow, compared with the Thule 846 Quest that offers no water resistance whatsoever. But vacationing, long-distance trippers will be well advised to invest more and go with the higher end GetOut Pro version. Day trippers that expect not much precipitation in the forecast can still save money and go with the GetOut because it does offer the same premium padding, easy loading design, optional locking zippers and a hefty 13 cubic feet of cargo load space. It also connected just as easily to all kinds of car racks, including Yakima, Thule and factory racks both with and without crossbars (we tested on Honda Civic, Honda Odyssey, Scion xB, Toyota Prius, Mitsubishi Montero & Nissan Murano).
