Default Thule 887 SlipStream Kayak Rack Reviews

The Thule 887 Slipstream is our choice for most innovative kayak carrier design since Thule Racks released the side loading 897XT Hullavator (another marvel in kayak rack engineering). We found the SlipStream effectively solves the most common complaint among kayakers transporting a kayak on their car rooftop kayak rack systems. Even with all the new technology to assist in getting the kayak on and off the rooftop, kayak saddles with rollers jump to mind, many car rack setups leave the kayak rack too far forward on the car. This means when you pick up the front of the boat to place it onto the rear kayak saddles it will often times slide along the back of the car roof. Problematic if you go kayaking often and scuff marks and such will eventually appear. We love how the 887 Slip Stream simply adjusts backwards to custom fit each vehicle, making sure the kayak hits the roller while not touching the vehicle. Then just slide the kayak along the roller and onto the kayak saddles. voila how easy is that!? 'nuf said.
